In January 2010, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) brought in new emissions standards requiring medium and heavy duty vehicles to significantly reduce engine emissions. Vehicle manufacturers use Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology which requires Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) to remove harmful emissions from diesel engines, breaking down gases into nitrogen and water. This means that most new diesel vehicles are being fitted with SCR and DEF tanks that must be regularly refilled.
With a wide range of health problems associated with diesel emissions of NOx and PM, DEF has significantly helped to reduce the release of harmful gases into the air. DEF is a non-hazardous, clear and colorless chemical.
As more and more fleets require DEF, we have recognized the growing need and now offer more than 60 cardlock locations with DEF at the pump with more on the way.
